About
Independent software research for service businesses.
StackMatch is an editorial publication comparing software in underserved B2B verticals — starting with pool service. The editorial team researches vendors, audits pricing, and ranks software by operator fit, not by who pays the most.
What StackMatch is
StackMatch is an editorial publication for service-business operators evaluating software. The starting vertical is pool service; cleaning and landscaping verticals are queued for 2026. Each vendor profile reflects research from primary sources — vendor websites, demo conversations, partner-portal data, and review aggregators — combined with editorial analysis from a research-team perspective.
The publication is funded by affiliate commissions when readers sign up for the tools we review. This funding model is disclosed on every page where affiliate links appear. Our editorial rankings are independent of which vendors offer affiliate programs — several of our top-ranked vendors pay us nothing.
Editorial team & bylines
StackMatch content is produced by the StackMatch editorial team. Pages are bylined "StackMatch Editorial Team" for primary research and analysis, or "StackMatch Research Team" for synthesis pieces and methodology updates. Where outside contributors participate, we credit them by name with their consent.
We intentionally do not center the publication around individual personalities. Our authority claim is methodology-based — we publish our research process, our scoring rubric, and our data sources so readers can audit them. See the full methodology for details.
Editorial standards
- No paid placement in rankings. Featured Listings (when introduced) are clearly badged and never affect editorial scores or written analysis.
- Affiliate disclosure appears near every monetized link, with a concise sitewide line: "Some links may earn us a commission. Rankings remain editorially independent."
- Vendors without affiliate programs are included on merit. Pool Brain and ServiceTitan appear in our pool rankings without paying us.
- Refreshed quarterly. Every vendor profile carries a "Last updated" date.
- Primary sources for facts; opinions clearly labeled as opinions.
- No fabricated testimonials or invented interviews. Operator quotes, when added, are attributed and verifiable.
How we rank
The editor's rating (0–5 scale) is composed of five weighted components:
- Operator fit (40%) — how well the tool serves its stated target customer size and use case
- Pricing transparency & value (20%) — public pricing, predictable scaling, total cost of ownership
- Feature depth in vertical (20%) — vertical-specific workflow depth (e.g., chemistry tracking, route optimization for pool service)
- Ecosystem maturity (10%) — integrations, mobile experience, community resources
- Vendor stability (10%) — customer count, review volume, product roadmap activity
See the full methodology for component definitions, data sources, and refresh cadence.
Research process
Each vendor profile begins with primary-source research:
- Vendor websites (pricing pages, feature pages, partner-program pages)
- Vendor demo conversations and sales-call notes, where applicable
- Partner-portal data, where we've been approved as a content partner
- Independent review aggregators (G2, Capterra, Software Advice) — used for review counts and patterns, not for our editorial scores
- Industry community discussions (Reddit, Facebook groups, vertical-specific forums)
- Operator feedback, when offered with permission to publish
Findings are synthesized into the structured frontmatter and editorial body that powers each vendor profile, comparison, and buyer's guide.
Coverage roadmap
- Pool service software — live. 10 vendors, full editorial coverage.
- Cleaning service software — Q3 2026 target. Residential maid + commercial janitorial.
- Landscaping & lawn care software — Q4 2026 target.
- Adjacent verticals — to be prioritized based on community demand and editorial-research capacity.
